WDM Setup
WDM is always from the computer’s perspective.
Think: “How does Windows see the mixer as a sound device?”
WDM Inputs: Mixer → Computer
Used when you want the computer to receive audio from the StudioLive.
Examples:
- Recording into Audacity
- Capturing audio in OBS Studio
WDM Outputs: Computer → Mixer
Used when you want the computer to send audio to the StudioLive.
Examples:
- Playing Spotify, YouTube, or system audio through the mixer
- Routing DAW playback to mixer channels
Recording
from the mixer to the computer
- Set up mix: Set Mix 15 & 16 to be a matrix (i.e. a mix of mixer outputs), then send MASTER to this mix.
- Set up Digital Patching: Send Mix 15 & 16 to USB 63 & 64
- WDM Setup: Assign USB 63 & 64 to input slots WDM 1 and WDM 2 of the WDM audio device.
NOTE: OBS Studio may not immediately pick up WDM device changes: Open the “Audio device > Properties dialog” in OBS, this seems to trigger recent audio device changes to apply.
