shutter speed for LED lighting

Reducing flicker:

Australia runs on 50Hz mains power, so match your shutter speed to that:

Stills: use 1/50s, 1/100s, or 1/200s — multiples of 50Hz avoid the banding. Video: shoot at 25fps or 50fps with a shutter speed of 1/50s (standard 180° shutter rule) rather than 24/30fps with 1/48 or 1/60.

Increase ISO instead of shutter speed if you need more light — keep shutter speed slow and compensate with ISO or aperture.

capturing kids

Shutter speed:

1/250–1/500s for kids moving around, playing, running 1/125s minimum if they're relatively still (sitting, coloring, listening) Avoid going below 1/125s handheld — you'll get motion blur or camera shake

Aperture:

wider is better
